Startup Support Program

The Startup Support Program is a program established in 2010 by UCSB’s Office of Technology and Industry Alliances (TIA) to help UCSB startup companies. The program provides one-on-one customized support covering a broad range of topics, services, and resources important to the growth of new startup companies.

The program offers support tailored to the needs of each entrepreneur and the current stage of development of his/her new venture.  This support will include an appropriate subset of the following:

  • Help with preparing for outreach to sources of funding, including review of business plans and coaching for presentations;
  • Introductions and access to potential sources of investment, partners and service providers critical to new venture success; and
  • A toolbox of materials/checklists/information that might advance the entrepreneur’s efforts.

Eligibility

Testimonials

“The Startup Support Program of UCSB’s Office of Technology & Industry Alliances (TIA) has been unbelievably helpful to us at Next Energy Technologies. The Startup Support Program has assisted us from the very beginning as we spun out of UCSB. The program manager, Dina L. Lozofsky, has provided us support in a multitude of ways. Dina helped us polish our plans and presentations, she utilized her vast rolodex to make invaluable introductions not easily found for young startups, she kept us aware of networking and other great opportunities, and she provided us with advice and counseling. Dina has continued to keep her eyes out for us and serve as our UCSB team member.We are extremely grateful to the startup support program.”

“Thank you for all the advice you gave us over the past one and a half years. It’s really hard to find someone who has both hands-on startup experience and a willingness to listen, understand, and look out for the best interest of entrepreneurs. We are really lucky to have you to turn to for all the headaches (and there have been many).”
