As energy demands increase, energy sources such as solar and thermoelectrics offer cleaner alternatives to traditional energy generation. The Institute for Energy Efficiency at UC Santa Barbara is an interdisciplinary institute that aims to increase energy efficiency by 50% in all of its research areas by 2025. By placing specific focus on lighting, production & storage, sustainability, electronics & photonics, computing, and buildings & design, the Institute and several other UCSB facilities have developed high-impact technologies in the field of energy research with expedited commercialization.
